In August of 1961, the parents of seven children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and three other interested persons, formed an organization that would later come to be known as The Arc of Volusia. Our agency was officially recognized by the State of Florida and chartered as a non-profit organization on March 23, 1962.
One day, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities will participate as full members of their communities throughout their lives.
To provide the opportunity for hope, growth, and change to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.
Everyone is a valued, contributing member of his or her community. The Arc of Volusia fosters respect and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilites.
